Alex’s first tooth

Lollys Lounge

Woo hoo – at last! He might be 10 months and 1 week old but he has been toothless and happy so far.
But as of yesterday Alex is experiencing his first tooth pain. All red of cheek and whingey of nature, I had been giving him Teetha and Calpol like there was no tomorrow. As I was rubbing bonjela in there I felt a little sharp edge on the bottom gum!
So I guess we can say goodby to his little gummy grin now – ahh!
And hello to the nightmare that is trying to brush small childrens teeth!
Joy…

My two boys – and surprisingly neither are crying!

I’ve just started Alex on some baby rice today – he’s 17 weeks and I know the Dept of Health says I should just give him breast milk for 6 months – but I would like the Dept of Health to try waking up every 3 hours in the night to feed a hungry baby.
Alex seemed to love the rice too – besides its good for me to have something else to do with him
We’ll see how it sorts out his crying in the night though. (One thing I aint looking forward to though is the smelly poos!!)

Ten Things you need to have before having a baby

Well 8 actually…

1. Buggy / pram.

Big investment – but I warn you against getting the expensive all singing and dancing travel system. many of them are cumbersome and you end up only using a few of the features. bear in mind that by 6 months you can use one of the lightweight stroller buggies that fold flat easily – it is much easier to borrow or buy a simple 2nd hand pram for the first few months. True that the baby will spend much of his time asleep in the buggy so it needs to be comfortable. I love my Britax travel system (well I only use the rock a tot car seat and the wheeled frame not all the rest of the stuff that it came with when I bought it second hand! But it does have a huge basket underneath for all my bags)

My due date was 21st March 2007 but I was keen to have the baby earlier as I wanted a Pisces not and Aries baby!
I was also worried that it was a posterior baby as I had had back ache and was worried that it would be a long erratic labour.
I had an Induction massage booked on Monday 19th with Lindsay Renwick – although had thought might go into labour on the 19th as I had been feeling quite “crampy” during the Sunday night – and I had been preparing to tell Lindsay that I didn’t need the massage as I had already gone into full labour.
But woke up Monday morning feeling pretty normal – so didn’t cancel the massage as I figured I wanted to have one “last” treat before the “onslaught” as it were! Continue reading
