This made me laugh. Daniel brought home his first proper “person” drawing (ie it wasn’t supposed to be a wigglepuppy or a monster with a hundred eyes or a Transformer with canons…) and I was quite impressed tbh.
The three people with brown hair on the left are Mummy, Daddy and Daniel respectively and the three blondes are Hels, Hebe and Jessamy.
I think he’s captured our likenesses perfectly :>

Just thought I woudl post this entry to show what Daniel just wrote in a birthday card to his friemd Dan!
And I didn’t help him at all – he just got on and did it himself (ok I showed him how to write an “e” but that was it.
He’s started to come on in leaps and bounds still starting at cshool – I know they talked about letters and did writing practice at nursery – but it really does seem that some formal eductaion is good for our Dan and he’s been picking up on it well.
(Those of you with kids are probably thinking its about time at 4 year old that a child can write his name – but he is aboy and boys are notoriously slow – at most things, Right? :>)

This was probably the jolliest moment of the day. At least I captured it on film.
Unlike Daniel’s first birthday which was an elaborate affair with lots of friends and well wishers and a picnic/barbeque in the garden and Daniel getting nekked in the paddling pool – Alex had to be content with just us 4 around him all day, sub zero icy northerly winds when I did attempt to take them outside, a barely potty trained older brother who curtailed our enjoyment of the park and a mother (me) with yet another cold, who felt so snotty she had to go to bed for a couple of hours.
Yes I’m sure he wasn’t aware that it was his birthday, and he was generally in a top mood all day so I guess I shouldn’t beat myself up about it.
Maybe I should do what Tony suggested and Photoshop Alex into some other child’s birthday pictures and pretend he had a marvellous party….
